Adderheart's dream

Suppressing a shiver, the tuxedo-coated, black and white warrior slunk tiredly into the warrior's den. Upon entering, he gazed sadly at the empty nesting spots that used to hold strong, proud warriors. Even though leaf-bare was coming to and end, and he could almost feel new green shoots poking though the earth, he could not sleep well at times, due to the cold and loneliness of the den. Adderheart had spent the whole day hunting, and upon settling down fell into a deep sleep within seconds.

It was dark.

It was freezing.

Adderheart opened his eyes. He was laying upon the Great Rock in the clearing at Fourtrees. He sat up abruptly, heart beating. How did I end up here? The black tom blinked in confusion, then looked at the sky, where Silverpelt usually stretched over the black expanse. He gasped in surprise when he saw that it was just an endless black pit. He looked over the clearing again- and uttered two words: "Great StarClan!"
All around the clearing, Starlight shimmered on the whole of StarClan. A wise-looking tom dusted with stars and other sky matter came forward with a hint of amusement twinkling in his moon-eyes. "Yes, indeed, Adderheart. Starclan is here, and we have a message for you."
The tom sat down, beckoning Adderheart to come closer. It was then that the young warrior made out patches of black and white beneath the stars of the other cat's coat. "Greetings. I am Tallstar, Leader of WindClan long before you are." Adderheart bowed his head in silent awe. Suddenly, his breath caught in his throat. He was then able to speak. "Wait- did you say before I was leader?" Tallstar smiled warmly. "Yes, I did. Adderheart. By the will of StarClan, you are to be WindClan's new leader. You shall recieve your nine lives next half-moon."
With that, all of the hundreds of cats in the clearing murmured their consent, and the ground fell away into darkness.
