As Twilightstar posed his question, Grayface responded quickly, dishing out an answer. "What do I think? I think we should begin the hunt!" the charcoal tom's voice suggested friendly chiding, and he began the descent off the small hill towards the bank.
Peering over the edgeinto the crystal clear water, Grayface saw a silvery flash circle lazily in the deeper waters. the gray tom licked his chops excitedly, for he had never tasted fish before. I've never fished before... but might as well give it my best shot. He glanced behind his shoulder at Smolderingrage, and quickly told himself, Time to do some fishing, it may impress her.Grayface tried to wait patiently by the edge of the river, but that fish just stayed where it was.
Finally the fish- it of complete unawares- ventured closer to the bank. Grayface crouched stationary, only his smoky eyes follwing the fish's every move. Closer... closer...
As fast as he could, Grayface swatted at the icy water, his paw plowing deep into the clear liquid. Flipping his paw out of the water, he knocked the fish up into the air... right out over the water. Thinking quickly of his pride, he leaned out as far as his lean shape would allow him, he batted the fish one last time, but this time over his shoulder. It landed with a plop on the soft blanket of snow, flipping about madly. Grayface purred as his achievement, but only for a second. He quickly lost his footing on the icy shore and plunged facefirst into the chilling water. Grayface was lucky, for he had only landed in the shallows. After regaining his footing on the pebbly bottom, Grayface stood belly deep in the cold water, embarassment plainly visible on his wet features. He felt the water tugging uncomfortably at his belly fur as he dragged himself out of the river. He sauntered over to the still flipping fish and sunk his claws into its neck, quickly ending its life.
One fish out of the water, another falls in.

Twilightstar watched Grayface with a wide grin. As the gray tom slipped into the icy water a friendly laugh excaped him. He waded into the water, as Grayface demonstrated, and stood still as a statue until a small fish swam caustiously towards him. Twilightstar kept a close watch on it until it was about a tail length away. Quickly he pounced face first into the frigid water. When he came back to the surface he had a fish in his mouth. His fur was soaked and matted to his face as he pranced out of the water, making him look thinner and more gangly than before.

He dropped the fish on the bank and shook the water from his coat. He grinned at smolderingrage and said, "Your turn!"

Grayface watched in amazement as his noble leader followed in his actions, grinning foolishly like a kit. He couldn't help but smile himself, but the gray tom wondered how the moody feline would take to it. He walked over to his leader and purred. "Nice fishing, Twilightstar!" Grayface was happy for a moment, then a dark thought struck him. "We should probably be a little quieter, the way we're laughing our heads off would usually bring a crowd to see if we're messed up in the head! And right now, that's not our goal," he murmered lowly into the charcoal tom's ear. Grayface would've giving anything for things to stay this way; not a care or worry in the world... enter reality. He trotted over to the river and peered into the water.
But the still irripressible Grayface let a wily grin slip onto his maw, beconing Twilightstar over to where he crouched. "Smolderingrage still hasn't stuck a paw in the water... do think we should... encourage her to?" He whispered playfully.

OOC://when you said he whispered somthing into the charcoal cats ear did you mean Twilight cause he's black? well anyways

BIC:// Twilightstar trotted over to where Grayface was crouching and leaned down next to him. The ground was wet with slush from the melting ice and the wind slowed to a breeze. He hissed playfully into the gray tom's ear,

"A little encouragement couldn't hurt, but let's not make a scene. We don't want to get caught out here."

Twilightstar stood and glanced in Smolderingrage's direction. A small almost unnoticable smile spread across his face. He felt like a teen hanging out with old friends. In a way he was ashamed of his behavior, but out here it didn't seem to matter. As long as they got the food they needed in the end.

He knew deep in the back of his mind that it was just a matter of time before they got caught. He hoped that he could reason with Swirlingstar if it came to that. What was important was finding food to feed his hungry clan. It just happened that along the way he found his youth again too.

A brown tabby she-cat padded slowly along the bank of the river, a grimace spread across her maw as her paws sunk into the slush and mud. Her eyes shifted around uneasily at her surroundings; tabby fur rising on her neck. Though she would never admit it, Smolderingrage was nervous at tresspassing on a rival clan's territory, much less stealing prey at that. Both Grayface and her leader seemed quite comfortable on RiverClan's territory, but she swore that if so much of a whiff of a RiverClan patrol reached her nose, she would probably pass out she was so nervous and jumpy.

Giving Twilightstar and her fellow clanmate a small smile, the ShadowClanner hesitantly dipped her paw into the water, shivering as she did so. Great StarClan, was she bluffing. She had no clue what to do. As suddenly she felt the swish of water against her leg, the femme thrashed her paw about, coming up with a fish attached to her claws. Smolderingrage eyed the fish, unsure what to do with it, as suddenly the fish's tail smacked her in the nose as it flipped around. A hiss erupted from the pretty she-cat and throwing the fish on the muddy bank, she slashed at it with her claws, killing it instantly. Blood covered her paws and ran down towards the thawing river as she licked her paws clean, turning to her clanmates indifferently.

"How much more do we have to catch?" Smolderingrage asked, eying the river disdainfully. She never wanted to so much as put a paw in the water again. RiverClanners were crazy. Cats weren't supposed to like water, much less swim in it as comfortably as they walked on land!

out of character; I'll post with Swirling in just a little bit. I don't have time now. =]

out of character; Ok, here comes swirling...XD. Any RiverClanner may come for the time being since I'm just going to mention she has a patrol with her, not naming any cat specifically, so that she doesn't seem quite so outnumbered. After a little bit though, all other RC cats will be sent away, however Gingertail is going to need to stay.

in character; A warm breeze blew through the willow trees surrounding the river, their dainty leaves whispering in the wind. NewLeaf was here, and unfortunately soon following it would be a horrible, deadly time for RiverClan: the floods. A beautiful splotched she-cat padded through the forest that hid the island containing RiverClan's camp, these thoughts running through her mind. The warmer seasons after LeafBare were certainly welcome in the forest, it was just some of the conditions the weather brought with it that caused most of the trouble. Swirlingstar picked up the pace as she began to think of all the things that the clan must accomplish to remain safe during the floody, rainy season; flicking her tail impatiently as a signal for the patrol she was heading to do the same. There was so much to do: gather enough prey to support the clan if the camp was cut off from the hunting lands by the gradually rising waters, increase the border patrols seeing as the other clans were well aware of the predicament the warming weather brought to RiverClan, and build some small dens on the most elevated parts of the camp in case the flooded river should reach so far as to the heart of her clan. The young leader's head began to swim dizzily at all of the frantic, last minute preparations that must be done to ensure her clan's safety.

Padding onwards, Swirling ignored the dirty brown slush of melted snow that was soaking her long belly fur, as uncormfortable as it may be, and opened her mouth to let the scents of the forest hit her palete. Without bothering to utter an excuse for her sudden stopping to her companions, the she-cat crouched lower against the ground, leaping forwards at a tree root. A shriek of terror filled the air for a moment, as her prey found too late that it had been discovered. Turning around, the RiverClanner has a fairly large rabbit clamped in her jaws, a gleam filling her emerald green eyes. It was rare that a rabbit would be found on RiverClan territory, seeing as they stuck more to the moorland, occasionally wandering to a forest, and it was quite a treat to catch one as they fed multiple cats.

Burying her catch, Swirlingstar continued onwards as she adjusted her course so that her patrol was heading towards the river. As she nearly trotted out of the cover of the woods, the multi-colored queen froze as she picked up a scent that seemed out of place in their part of the forest. Eyes that scanned the panorama scene of the river widened as they suddenly fell on three shapes hunched by the water. Recognizing their scent instantly upon sight, the leader tensed. ShadowClanners.

Anger coursed through her small body, a virus that once started was hard to stop. How dare they steal fom RiverClan, after all of the times her clan had helped them in their time of need before! ShadowClan was lowly in her eyes, but she expected that under Twlightstar's guidance the dark clan would regain the respect they once held over the forest in the days of Tigerstar, or even farther back to Raggedstar, if the coal black tom did his duties to the best of his abilities. Apparently they were lower than she thought. Jerking her head at her patrol as a sign to follow herself, Swirlingstar stepped out of the shadows. Fur bristling so that she looked two times her regular size, a low growl rumbled deep in the clancat's chest. Stepping behind Twilightstar, her tone took a dangerously silky edge, one that she reserved especially for those that she was furious or even disgusted with. "Hello Twilightstar. What in StarClan's name are you doing on RiverClan's territory? Obviously your father didn't teach you like most kits are taught about the most basic rules of the warrior code. Or have you forgotten that you are forbidden to tresspass on another clan's territory?" She taunted, a hiss being emitted along with her last words.

Ashpelt, one of the chosen cats to accomany his leader on the patrol, paced menacingly alongside the pebbly bank of the thawing river. He knew that sometimes his loudmouth actions got him in deep sludge, so instead of boasting out loud, he thought his threats. One mangly grey tom, a nervous she-cat, and a worn-down looking leader. Some patrol, Twilightstar. That all you could muster? How pitiful, a weak trio.
Grayface saw disdain clearly in a light gray tom's eyes. He could almost hear his thoughts, taunting him to leap across the river and scratch his eyes out. Oh Grayface wanted to, alright. There was something about this tom cat he hated. And it was not that he was intruding on their little picnic here, it was that by the way he held his head and tail made him itch. He thinks that he rules the forest, he seethed. He thinks that he can handle anything that we dish out. Well, I'll see to that.
Gingertail, who had also been summoned to join the patrol, was appalled at how these intruders could just neglect the warrior code with such insolence. Her being such a religiously oriented medicine cat, of course. She studied each of them, measuring them up in case things got so rough as to where there would be a fight. Gingertail was never one who would favor a fight over reasonable talking. She studied a charcoal tom more closely than the rest; it looked like he was having a stare-down with Ashfur. She could feel the tenseness crackle in the cool air. If anyone is going to make a move, it will be that gray. She hoped it wouldn't come to that.

'Hush little ones...'

A small bengal she-cat trudged slowly towards the side of the river nearest to ThunderClan territory. Her paws dragged in weariness, as the river was quite a lengthy trek away from the site of the caves. Another burden upon her shoulders were her four kits dangling from her mouth. It was wrong to move them at such an early age of one day, but Callisto feared that if she didn't the kits would have memories of their mother; something that would pose a difficulty and prevent the kits from living a normal life in the clans. As none of the kits had opened their eyes yet, it would be a trial alone to even get each lot to its new home. Somehow the rogue had devised a way to carry all of her newborns at the same time, though it wasn't easy.

As if in response to her thoughts, Tatteredkit, one of the spotted twins, let out a whimper as her rear dragged on the ground and the brambles in the underbrush tugged at her fur in clumps. Letting out a sigh, Callisto raised her head, hoisting her kits higher. Blinking away tiredness, the queen continued on. If it wasn't enough that she had multiple kits that she must carry, the rust-colored she-cat hadn't yet regained what little strength she had before the birthing of her first litter. Undernourished, every rib showed beneath Callisto's soft coat. Her lack of nutrition had also taken a toll on her kits as well.

Reaching the twoleg bridge that crossed the river, the rogue gently set Minnowkit and Sterlingkit in the newly grown grass, reassuring them that she would return soon. Crossing the bridge, the queen tightened her grasp on Tattered and Demon's scruffs out of motherly instincts as she glanced down at the rushing waters below. One misplaced pawstep on the slippery bridge could send them all to a sure death.

As she stepped back onto land on RiverClan territory, the scents of multiple cats hit her in waves. Trying to keep her kits from betraying her presence, Callisto crouched low and slithered forward into the shadows of the bridge on the bank. Squinting her bright amber orbs, the she-cat could make out about six cats, maybe more. The odd things was that some carried the distinguished stench of ShadowClan while others smelled of the familiar scent of RiverClan. By the stances of two cats, the bengal could judge who the two leaders were: a silver tortie she-cat and a jet black tom. The she-cat looked regal and at ease in RiverClan territory, so she must 've been the leader of the water loving clan. The dark tom was assumably of ShadowClan, though the strange thing was that he looked vaguely familiar.

Suddenly Tatteredkit let out a hungry wail and her mother grimaced, knowing that there was no way that the clan cats could have missed the loud cry for attention. Stiffening, the scrawny rogue gathered Demonkit and Tatteredkit and padded wordlessly out of her shelter.

Stopping a safe distance away from the two conflicting clans, Callisto set her two kits down on the dirty, wet ground directly in front of herself, curling her long tail around them protectively as they grumbled in protest that their soft belly fur was getting damp. Staring coolly at the clan kitties, the mother's eyes dared any of the cats to take a step forward to harm the innocent kittens.

out of character; Before we continue much further, let's wait for Talim to post with Twilightstar before the cats realize Callisot's presence. Talim can be the one to bring attention to Callisto at the end of her post. =)
