After Whiteblur had placed her prey on the fresh-kill pile at the camp, she decided to go to the Oak Forest to catch more prey. As her lithe body carried herself towards the best spot for catching prey in the forest, she heard a rustling in the dry undergrowth. Then she heard scuffling of tiny paws, slightly muted by the light blanket of snow, that still was falling steadily. Whiteblur's ears pinpionted the exact location of where the subtle noises came from. Her muscles tensed, preparing herself for the long pounce. With one swift movement, it was over. She picked up the mouse, the tempting smells wafting up towards her nostrils. She scraped a light cover of dead leaves and snow over the little brown body. She began to set out for more prey, for she knew that the snow would bring Leaf-Bare, and Leaf-Bare would bring great hunger for the clan. She hastily licked her whiskers, for the lingering scent of prey still hung about her maw, and the began the search for more prey. stalking among the ferns and roots of the majestic, old, oaks.

The as the day went along, Whiteblur did not hve as much prey as she had planned on having caught. She picked up her small pile of prey in her jaws -three mice and a squirrel- and began trotting out of the forest towards the camp to deposit her meager offering. She decided that the river would have more to offer. She set off toward her favorite hunting spot in the river at a brisk trot, shaking a paw as a clump of snow got itself wedged in between her small toes.
